Processor Support
Under XP & Vista

This introductory offer is limited to current users of Arts & Letters EXPRESS, who we assume are already familiar with the program's features and functions. Therefore, we have emphasized what is new and different about EXPRESS 8.0 for XP and Vista and why you should take advantage of this special offer.

On the left are links that will display elements of 8.0 and below is an explanation of other improvements we cannot illustrate. Click on Order Form to go to a secure page to purchase 8.0 for only $79.95 plus $5.00 S&H.

Speed, Reliability and Compatibility

With the introduction of Vista and 64-bit computers, it became essential that we redesign the internal architecture of EXPRESS to accommodate 32/64-bit processors, an effort that has taken over two years.

While we have completely rewritten EXPRESS, we have retained the same interface and functionality, changing only those dialog boxes necessary to conform to Windows standards. The Open, Save, Import and Export dialog boxes are the most frequently used of the dialog boxes affected and can be viewed by clicking on the links in the left column.

Arts & Letters 8.0 will install its own directory and will not affect the operation of any other Arts & Letters programs or files on your system. From 8.0, you can write files in 7.x format if necessary.

Previous versions of EXPRESS did not take full advantage of the capabilities of the XP operating system; especially memory management. Memory management affects the number of objects and bitmap images you can place in the Drawing Area.

Version 8.0 now allows you to add as many bitmap images to a document as your system resources will allow. With the new digital cameras, many users are capturing images of 40 megabytes and the new architecture is essential for those users integrating photos in their EXPRESS documents.

EXPRESS creates a My Graphics directory in each user's My Documents folder. My Graphics is the default directory where all files for a project in EXPRESS can be stored. Previously, My Graphics was located in the program directory, a design that is discouraged in XP and not feasible under Vista.
