XP Compatibility Mode The recent release of Windows XP incorporates a new feature called Compatibility Mode that allows users to overcome common problems associated with older programming practices and safely runs many legacy applications. Compatibility Mode allows users to run applications in one of five modes (Windows® 95, Windows® NT 4 Service Pack 5, Windows 98/Me and Windows 2000) to resolve common problems which may prevent older applications from working correctly.     To enable the compatibility mode: 1. Right-click on the shortcut for the application in the Windows XP program menu. 2. Select properties, and choose the Compatibility Tab. 3. From the drop down list, select the previous version of Windows that the product was designed for. 4. Click apply, then OK.
